Born of the Spirit

In regard to “New Beginnings” as was stated previously, we will find that life will always present to us new experiences in which we must grow by accepting what life holds, or fall into the pit of self-destruction. The first and most important of all new beginnings is to be born again. We must be born of the Spirit to enter into the new and eternal life that God offers to us, through the acceptance of the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. So in truth what we begin is a brand new life. To accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour is to die to our old life and begin to live the life that Christ gives us in exchange for our own. The way I understand this is that Jesus simply says if you give me your life I’ll give you mine. Incredible! I can actually have the life of Christ within me as I accept his offer and now I can face this earthly life with the power of the living God within my being. To refuse is to reject the Lord Jesus Christ and to lose eternal life with the Lord.

In the Book of John Chapter 3, Christ teaches Nicodemus the necessity of regeneration. Nicodemus was a ruler of the Jews. He was a learned religious teacher, but he didn’t know what it meant to be born again. He came to Jesus at night, because he didn’t want anyone to see that he sought the Lord to find out what it meant. This is a great example of how inadequit the wisdom of religion without the knowledge of pure truth. In John 14:6 Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Therefore in order to know the Lord Jesus Christ in a personal and intimate relationship, you must come to where he is in the Spirit. The only way is to be born of the Spirit, it is called born again, because you were born to you physical life by your earthly parents, now you must be born to your spiritual life by your heavenly Father.

Once you have experienced your new beginning by being born again, you will find that life will hold many new beginnings as you come to see by your spiritual eyesight. The eyes of your understanding will be opened and you will see and hear things that will answer the many questions of life that probably brought you to the place of realizing your need of the Lord. Now that you have come to the realization of your need and the action upon that need, the acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour, you are now ready to embark on your journey of coming to know the Lord in the fullness of his person. This is your new beginning.
